Quam – Pioneering work in the mobile phone market
Roland Freise occupied a leading position at the Quam GmbH Company in Munich in the brand-appropriate visualization of all the channels of the Quam Multi-Access Portal. As a Portal Design Specialist, he developed further all the user interfaces of the Web, PDA, WAP and interactive TV channels, which involved managing external staff and agencies in the implementation of the portal concepts.
The consortium of the Spanish Telefonica and the Finnish Sonera ceased network operations in 2002. After the O2 takeover, Telefonica continues to be active in the German telecommunications market and offers a fertile ground for the innovative applications and concepts developed at that time in Quam. In the long term, mobile phone TV and IPTV offerings will be successful in the market and will become widespread – even though unfortunately the penetration of innovative products and services always takes rather longer in Germany.
